“It’s OK”, I tell him, moving closer, wary in case the nightmare suddenly fires up again. “You’re home. With me. Lord Loss can’t get you here. Your eyes are fine. It was just a nightmare.”

“Grubbs?” Dervish wheezes.

“Yes, boss.”

“That’s really you? You’re not an illusion? He hasn’t created an image of you, to torment me?”

“Don’t be stupid. Not even Michelangelo could sculpt a face this perfect.”

Dervish smiles. The last of the nightmare passes. He sits on the floor and looks at me through watery globes. “How you doing, big guy?”

“Coolio.”

“Did I hurt you?” he asks quietly.

“You couldn’t if you tried,” I smirk, not telling him about the hit to the head, the hand on my throat, the foot at my face.

I sit beside him. Drape an arm around his shoulders. He hugs me tight. Murmurs, “It was so real. I thought I was back there. I…”

And then he weeps, sobbing like a child. And I hold him, talking softly as the moon descends, telling him it’s OK, he’s home, he’s safe - he’s no longer in the universe of demons.

--------------------------------------

A little sketch of a scene from Slawter, by Darren Shan. It wouldn't leave my head, so I gave it a try.
The relationship between Grubbs and Dervish is so touching, IMO. I love how much they care for each other, how loyal they are to each other. There's something about how Darren writes father figures that moves me.
Dervish has been my fav character since Lord Loss and seeing him scared and crying is horrible. Even more because he's a badass, a funny, clever man.
Let me love you, Dervish ;u;

Really like this drawing, it shows the human side of Dervish, the man who was broken down by tragedy after tragedy, loss after loss

Aww, the expression! D:

I want to read the series but I can never find the first book in my library... I remember I used to love Cirque du Freak. :D

Well, the books are genius! So I hope you can read them. They're definitely not in my country and not in my language, so I'm buying them from here, if it's of any help: [link]

Ah, Cirque du Freak is awesome. And Mr.Crepsley is made of love <333

(How you doing? It's been soooo long! Hope everything's going well. I'm trying to go back here to dA but I'm taking my time xD)

I might look for them online, but I don't have much time for reading while I'm at school. XD Maybe over the summer!

Yes, it is! XD Nostalgia from middle school...

I'm fine! Pretty busy though. I have way too many deviations to go through... D: And trying to answer all the comments. XD What about you?

Tel Hesaniiiiii aaah all the feelings akbjabfvjks) ASÍ QUE YO TE LO RECOMIENDO.

Even in death may you be triumphant <3
